Doomsday Profit welcomes new drummer David Ruiz

A new year always brings change and that’s certainly case for Doomsday Profit in 2023. We’d like to introduce our good friend David Ruiz as our new drummer!

You might recognize David as the drummer and mastermind of both the black metal juggernaut Antiquity and true heavy metal warriors Vassal. (And if you don’t, we highly recommend checking them out!) We’ve been friends and fans of David for a long time, and we are thrilled with the new elements he’s bringing into the band already.

Of course, David’s introduction comes on the heels of our farewell to founding drummer Tradd Yancey. Late last year, Tradd made the decision to step back from music and focus on other pursuits. We are sad to see him go, but we support his decision and remain friends.

We are also very grateful to David for stepping in and quickly getting up to speed on our set so we can carry on with little interruption.

Before Tradd left, we recorded three songs for what was intended to be a full-length album. Our intention now is to complete the recording process on those songs, and release them as an EP to bookend the first era of this band. More on that soon.

In the meantime, we’re excited to get the year into high gear starting next weekend in Boone and Charlotte. We’ve got a February weekender to look forward to, and some exciting shows coming into place for the Spring. Oh, and we’re still writing.

We have high hopes for 2023, and we’re confident that however it takes shape, it’ll be an exciting year for Doomsday Profit. We hope you’ll join us for the ride.
